Lighting Practice
Lighting Practice
A few lessons ago we practiced different lighting techniques, so we could start thinking about the sort of lighting we want to put in our thriller. Me, Courtney, Hyleana and Niamh worked in a group together because us 4 are going to do our thriller task together. In this shot we attempted to create a 3 point full lighting. This lighting wasn't the most effective because we didn't have he proper equipment and big bright lights so we had to use the flashlights on our phone. Me, Niamh and Courtney got the flashlights on our phone to create his effect. I was stood to her right, Niamh was to the left, and Courtney was in front of her, and we was all shining our lights on her to try and get the 3 point lighting.as you can see, Hyleana was the focus in this picture.
This type of lighting is called Chiaroscuro lighting. In the shot, there is harsh lighting on my face, created again by the
flash light on a member of my groups phone. To make the shot black and white, we used an effect on Courtney's iPhone. It's effective because the lighting makes my face stand out and makes it the centre of attention in the shot, as its a bright white colour compared o the dark background.
This lighting is artificial lighting. we turned the lights on in the room, but shut the blinds ensuring that no natural light was shining through. However, when we took the photo we seen that it just looks normal, so to ensure we had
a blue-grey hue we added an effect to it from Courtney's phone called 'Hue'.
Here we used back lighting which means the lighting is behind the subject. Here is a silhouette of me looking out of the window, however, you can only see the outline of me and the scenery outside that I am looking at.
